Week One: 36 traffic tickets issued by SSP during back-to-school safety blitz

Two stunt driving charges were laid

On Tuesday, September 7, 2021, the South Simcoe Police Service launched the annual “All Hands On Deck” Back to School Safety Campaign.

Here is the first week of school by numbers:

Highway Traffic Act Tickets Issued: 36
Highway Traffic Act Warnings issued: 19
Stunt Driving: 2 (90 km/h in a 40 and 135 km/h in a 60)
Alcohol Suspension: 1
Suspended Driver: 1
No Insurance: 1
Criminal Charges: 5 (One traffic stop — impaired/refuse sobriety test/breach of conditions x 3)
