It has been a deadly holiday weekend on local roads.
Two people were killed in a crash late Saturday night on Highway 26, between County Road 10 and Klondike Park Road. A car collided head-on with a pick-up truck.
Two passengers in the car, a 19-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man, were pronounced dead at the scene. The 20-year-old driver of the car and 67-year-old man at the wheel of the pick-up truck suffered serious injuries.
A few hours earlier, on Fairgrounds Road, between 12/13 Sideroad and 15/16 Sideroad, a 46-year-old man died after being thrown from his vehicle after it had veered into a ditch.
And Saturday night on County Road 1, between County Road 10 and Adjala/New Tecumseth Townline, a driver lost control at a sharp curve and wound up rolling in a ditch. The car came to rest on its roof.
An 82-year-old woman from Mono was killed, a 60-year-old man – also from Mono – suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Investigations continue into all three incidents. Names have not been released.
Meantime, in the Kawartha Lakes hamlet of Glenarm, a three-year-old child died Sunday when the beginner-sized ATV they were riding – without permission – rolled on private property.
