Driver airlifted to trauma centre after transport truck crash in Severn Township

Orillia OPP are investigating a transport truck crash in Severn Township today that sent the driver to a trauma centre.

Officers responded to County Road 16 near Heron Drive.

"The initial information was that the transport truck was in the ditch on its side with an occupant trapped inside," OPP said in a release.

"With the assistance of Southern Georgian Bay OPP, Simcoe County Paramedics and Oro-Medonte Fire, a lone male occupant was removed from the wreckage."

OPP say he was transported to a local hospital and then airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

Roads in the area have been closed while police investigate.
