Two Bradford women charged following South Simcoe Police human trafficking investigation

Mexican-born workers workers promised work and housing

Two Bradford women have been charged in connection to a human trafficking investigation.

An investigation by the South Simcoe Police and Canadian Border Service Agency began in late January after a tip came in about forced labour human trafficking on the part of a cleaning services company in Bradford. Investigators say Mexican-born workers were promised accommodations and employment but were instead trafficked, defrauded, and threatened with deportation.

Search warrants were executed in Bradford on April 14th, and two women, aged 31 and 39, were taken into custody. Both face five counts of Trafficking in Persons.

The victims were moved to refugee centres in the GTA.
