South Simcoe Police made a pair of drunk driving arrests about three hours apart.
Officers were running a RIDE spot check at Langford Blvd. and Miller Park Ave. Friday evening, when they say a vehicle approached. While speaking to the driver, the smell of booze was detected. The 63-year-old driver, a Richmond Hill man, was arrested and taken back to the station for further sobriety tests. He was charged after police say he registered over twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
A 33-year-old man from Innisfil was charged about three hours later, after police received calls of an erratic driver. Police tracked a suspect vehicle down to the area of Highway 400 and Innisfil Beach Road. Police could smell booze on the breath of this driver as well, while subsequent breath tests showed he was well over the legal limit.
