Barrie police say a house fire that killed two in Barrie on Friday is not considered suspicious.
The Ontario Fire Marshal was at the scene over the weekend to conduct its investigation, although it's ongoing. However, police confirmed in a news release that there is nothing to believe that the fire was criminal in nature.
Yellow tape cordoned off a section of Alfred Street near Campbell Avenue over the weekend while officers remained on scene.
The cause of the fire has not been revealed.
Emergency crews responded to the fire on Alfred Street between Wood Street and Campbell Avenue at 3:45 p.m. after reports of heavy smoke emanating from every window of the house.
Crews located a 63-year-old man deceased inside, his identity later confirmed by the coroner's office.
A second male, a 76-year-old was found unresponsive and transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead. Both men were siblings that lived in the home.
Police say next of kin has been notified.
