Two more lives lost as Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit adds five new COVID-19 cases to its tally

Six more people have recovered since yesterday's update

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) is reporting two more lives were lost in connection to COVID-19 in our region.

While details of the two were not available, the SMDHU confirms both were residents of Owen Hill Retirement Community in Barrie. This brings the number of people lost to the disease in Simcoe and Muskoka to 36.

This comes as the SMDHU confirms another five cases have been added to the region-wide caseload, now totalling 436. Of those, another six people have recovered from the virus, with 309 recoveries reported to date.

As is the case on the provincial level, the SMDHU is noting the majority of COVID-19 cases are among women.
