Barrie Police responded to a break-and-enter at an Owen Street convenience store, resulting in the arrest of two male suspects.

Shortly after 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, officers were dispatched to the scene following a report from a citizen.

Upon arrival, police discovered that the front door of the store had been shattered and the place had been ransacked.

With the assistance of a witness who provided descriptions of the suspects, the officers located the individuals a short distance away and took them into custody.

Two men, 38 and 52 years of age, both of no fixed address, were charged with break and enter, as well as possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.

The 38-year-old suspect also had an outstanding bench warrant issued by Barrie Police for failure to attend court, which resulted in an additional charge.

Both of the accused were held in custody for a bail hearing.
