Compared to previous unsanctioned truck rallies held this year in Barrie, the number of participants was down and no charges were laid by police.
Police spokesperson Jennett Mays confirmed to Barrie 360 that a pair of rallies took place on Saturday night in separate areas of the city, in the parking lots at Georgian Mall and at Lowe's.
The police traffic unit was on scene but no charges were laid at either event, which Mays described as "calm," adding officers were in both lots educating the public. It's estimated there were about 100 participants at each location.
Pictures from the scene show plumes of smoke from vehicles, and visible marking on the parking lot surface at the Georgian Mall.
In May, police laid dozens of charges at an unsanctioned truck rally in the parking lot at Bayfield Mall, and several Highway Traffic Act offences were laid at another truck rally at Georgian Mall in June.
At both events, the number of people and vehicles numbered in the hundreds.
