One dead, three injured in two-vehicle crash on HWY 400 in Vaughan

A woman is dead and three others are injured after a car crashed into a minivan on Highway 400 north of Toronto Friday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police say a red Volkswagen Jetta collided with a minivan on Highway 400 near Rutherford Road in Vaughan, Ont., around 3 a.m.

They say a 73-year-old North York woman in the minivan was pronounced dead at the scene and three other passengers were transported to hospital with injuries. 

Police say the driver of the Volkswagen was last seen walking away from the crash. 

In a tweet, OPP asked for the driver of the Volkswagen to call a lawyer and turn themself in.

Police closed the highway between Rutherford Road and Highway 7 to investigate, but at 10:50 a.m. said it was reopened.

Anyone with information is asked to contact OPP.
