A 16-year old has been charged after Barrie police say the teenager stole a car and then crashed it into a parked SUV in the city's south end.

Police say just before 10 a.m. on Wednesday they were contacted about the collision on Country Lane.

The timing was of note to officers who had just taken a report involving the overnight theft of the car.

The teen of no fixed address was charged with theft of a vehicle, careless driving, driving without insurance and unlawfully being in a dwelling or house.

The youth was released on a bail and has a court date next month.
