Uptick in Barrie home sales and price last month, though year-to-date sees double-digit drop

There was an uptick in home sales in Barrie last month compared to April, according to numbers released by the Barrie and District Association of Realtors (BDAR) on Tuesday.

Month-over-month, the BDAR report says 237 units were sold in May, which was a 16.2 per cent increase in the number of units sold in April. The average price of a home sold during May was $769,947, up 1.9 per cent compared to the month previous.

Compared to a year ago, 18.5 per cent more homes sold last month compared to May 2022, though the average price was down eight per cent.

Taking a look at the year-to-date since January, the number of homes sold in Barrie is off 20 per cent from the same timeframe last year, while the average price dipped 18.5 per cent.
