Numerous charges laid after vehicle speeds past OPP cruiser in Muskoka

A 25-year-old Thornhill resident has been charged after a vehicle blew past an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) cruiser on Highway 11.

Shortly before 10 p.m. on Saturday, Huntsville OPP say officers were northbound on the highway when a vehicle passed their cruiser allegedly travelling 95 km/h over the speed limit.

The motorist was charged with the following:

·        Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs

·        Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Novice driver - B.A.C. above zero

·        Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform stunt - Excessive speed

The motorist had his driver's licence suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
