Vehicle stopped for an expired plate, two people now face drug charges: Barrie Police

Police say they seized suspected cannabis, cocaine, meth and prescription pills

Two people have been charged with drug-related offences after Barrie Police stopped a vehicle with an expired plate.

Police say the vehicle was pulled over on Edgehill Drive on Saturday afternoon, adding the plate had expired three years ago.

The officers got a strong whiff of cannabis coming from the vehicle.

Upon further investigation, police say they seized a quantity of suspected cannabis, cocaine, methamphetamine and prescription pills.

Police allege the suspects were trafficking the drugs.

Charges were laid against a 23-year-old Mississauga man and a 28-year-old Barrie woman.

The man was also charged for failing to surrender an insurance card.
