Vehicle plows into traffic light in Barrie collision

Police say the driver suffered a medical emergency

Barrie Police say a collision in the city's south end shortly after midnight on Thursday was the result of a medical emergency involving the motorist.

According to reports, the eastbound vehicle went through the intersection at Madelaine Drive and Dean Avenue, struck a traffic light, then a fire hydrant before bouncing off a tree and coming to a stop on the sidewalk.

The engine was dismounted from the car.

Paramedics transported the individual to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.

Respecting the privacy of the individual, police did not disclose details of the individual's medical condition.
