Meet the new class inducted into the "World Video Game Hall of Fame"

A new class of classic video games has been inducted into the "World Video Game Hall of Fame."

The 10th class recognizes Asteroids, Myst, Resident Evil, SimCity and Ultima for their impacts on the video game industry and popular culture.

The inductees were chosen from a field of 12 finalists that included Elite, Guitar Hero, Metroid, Neopets, Tokimeki Memorial, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and You Don't Know Jack.

However, only five VIPs were accepted into the 2024 Hall of Fame, which recognizes electronic games of all types, including arcade, console, computer, handheld, and mobile.

Atari is the oldest game on the new list. It debuted in arcades in 1979 and became Atari's bestselling coin-operated game.
