Virtual mall Santa Claus is coming to town

Virtual and in-person visits are being offered

Yes, Virginia, there will be a chance for the kiddies to get their picture taken with Santa Claus this holiday season, but from a distance.

Like everything else in our lives this year, the pandemic will come into play.

Georgian Mall in Barrie is offering photos virtually and in-person beginning Nov. 14. Kids won’t be able to sit on Santa’s lap and share their Christmas gift wish list.

On its website, the mall says holiday programming has been modified to ensure physical distancing, safety and cleaning protocols. Protocols for contactless in-person Santa visits have been put in place:

  • Reducing the number of guests on the set at one time through pre-booking of all visits (no drop in or walk up visits)
  • Santa will be positioned 6 feet behind the families and children who come to take a photo.
  • Santa will be positioned approx. 14-16 feet from the camera.
  • Enhanced cleaning of the set between visits
  • Requiring face coverings for the staff, including Santa and guests
  • Requiring daily temperature checks and health screenings for all staff

Georgian Mall requires the public to register for in-person and virtual visits.
