Huronia West OPP say they are investigating a fatal crash in Wasaga Beach that resulted in a death.

Just before midnight on Saturday, April 9, police say they came across a serious two-vehicle collision on Mosley Street in Wasaga Beach.

Officers say both drivers were transported to Collingwood General & Marine Hospital - one of the drivers was pronounced deceased.

Police say the deceased has been identified as 62-year-old James Lynne of Wasaga Beach.

Mosley Street, between 28th St. and 30th St., was closed for several hours while officials investigated.

Police are asking for any witnesses, or anyone in possession of dashcam footage, to contact Huronia West OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or Crime Stoppers.

OPP say during the road closure, around 4 a.m., a separate car travelled through the roadblocks and entered the collision site, while police were still on scene.

Officers say after speaking with the driver, they concluded it was a drinking and driving situation.

A 25-year-old Wasaga Beach man faces impaired driving charges, dangerous operation, as well as a 90-day licence suspension and vehicle impounding for seven days.

He is scheduled to appear in Collingwood court in early May.
