Huronia West OPP are investigating a drowning that occurred Saturday afternoon in Wasaga Beach.

Just after 1 p.m. Saturday, emergency authorities responded to reports of a missing kayaker from a residence on River Road East.

The missing person was a 24-year-old male from Toronto, who had been kayaking with two others when their craft flipped. He was the only one of the three not to resurface.

When the Wasaga Beach Fire Deparment arrived, the man was located and resuscitation efforts commenced before he was transported to hospital by paramedics. He was eventually pronounced dead.

The man's identity has not been released out of respect for the family's privacy amid the ongoing investigation.
