Wasaga Beach man behind bars after 'serious threats' against police

OPP say similar threats were made towards multiple policing partners

Huronia West OPP say a Wasaga Beach man is behind bars after an investigation regarding "serious threats" made against police.

OPP say the threats, made towards police at the detachment in Wasaga Beach, were all received in a span of 12 hours on Tuesday, Feb. 7.

Police say an accused was arrested.

According to officers, information was received from the Barrie Police Service regarding the same accused engaging in similar threats towards police in Barrie, as well as several other policing partners.

A 33-year-old faces the following charges:

  • Utter threats to cause death or bodily harm (X2)
  • Harassing communications
  • Criminal harassment (X3)
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon

He was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in Barrie court on Thursday, Feb. 9.
