Huronia West OPP have laid over 250 charges so far this Labour Day long weekend.

There has been a heightened police presence, enforcement, and patrol throughout Wasaga Beach, Clearview and Springwater Townships this long weekend.

"As a result, numerous Highway Traffic Act (HTA), Liquor Licence and Control Act (LLA) and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA) have been laid," OPP wrote in a release.

"The approximate numbers are over 250 for the first two days of the long weekend."

OPP say preliminary numbers show that on Friday, 97 charges were laid, and on Saturday, another 160 charges.

Some of the charges include speeding, licence plate violations, vehicle tire violations, and driver's licence offences.

OPP added that multiple vehicles have been impounded and several R.I.D.E programs have been conducted.

"The Huronia West OPP would like to thank most road users that obey laws and assist in keeping our roads safe. Additionally, we would like to thank all law-abiding citizens who respect others' property and do not put others' safety at risk," police say.
