Wasaga Beach rethinking location of new arena and library
“We need to ensure that we get this right"
Town of Wasaga Beach will now consider all options for a new arena and library.
Both were being considered as part of a proposed community hub at Main and Beck Streets.
The new council passed a motion January 8 to pause the community hub process and consider all potential sites in town noting all provincial funding for hubs has been suspended.
Total capital cost for the public sector components of the hub would be in the range of $45-million, inclusive of land.
“How we handle taxpayer dollars is vitally important so we need to give careful consideration to where these new amenities should be built. We need to ensure that we get this right.”
