Orillia OPP laid a slew of charges on two men, one of them from Barrie, after seizing weapons and drugs during a traffic stop.
Police say they were conducting a general patrol on Barrie Road in Orillia on Saturday, July 6, when they spotted a vehicle " travelling in a manner consistent with driving impaired."
A traffic stop was then initiated.
"Upon speaking with the occupants, the officer noticed a cannabis joint in the motor vehicle, therefore the occupants were detained for further investigation," OPP wrote in a news release on Tuesday.
OPP say they found:
- Police pepper spray
- A prohibited knife
- A conductive energy weapon
- Canadian Currency
"Through investigation, officers formed grounds the occupants were trafficking in illegal substances," OPP stated. "The motor vehicle was seized, and a warrant was obtained to search the vehicle fully."
The following was seized by police:
- A loaded Smith and Wesson revolver handgun
- 164.5 grams of fentanyl
- 6.9 grams of cocaine
- 37 hydromorphone
- 1 oxycodone

A 41-year-old Barrie man has been charged with:
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order, contrary to section 117.01(1) if the Criminal Code of Canada (CC) x2
- Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition contrary to section 92(2) CC
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm section 91(1) CC
- Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm section 94 CC.
- Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition section 95(1) CC
- Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm section 95(1).
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 section 354(1)(a)
- Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose section 88 CC
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm section 92(1)
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking-Opioid contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA)
- Possession of schedule 1 substance- opioid section 4(1) CDSA
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking- Cocaine section 5(2) CDSA
- Possession of schedule 1 substance- cocaine section 4(1)
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking-other drugs section 5(1) CDSA
- Possession of schedule 1 substance- other drugs section 4(1) CDSA x2
A 38-year-old North York man was also charged with:
- Possession of Firearm ammunition contrary to prohibition order section 117.01(1) CC x18
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 section 354(1)(a)
- Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition contrary to section 92(2) CC
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm section 91(1) CC
- Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm section 94 CC.
- Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition section 95(1) CC
- Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm section 95(1).
- Unauthorized possession of prohibited device section 92(2)
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose section 88 CC x5
- Carry concealed weapon section 90 CC.
- Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition section 92(2) CC x4
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking-Opioid contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA)
- Possession of schedule 1 substance- opioid section 4(1) CDSA
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking- Cocaine section 5(2) CDSA
- Possession of schedule 1 substance- cocaine section 4(1)
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking-other drugs section 5(1) CDSA
- Possession of schedule 1 substance- other drugs section 4(1) CDSA x2
Both were held in custody pending bail hearings.
