Weapons incident in Wasaga Beach leads to slew of charges

Provincial police have laid charges stemming from a weapons incident that occurred in Wasaga Beach on Monday afternoon.

Around 6:12 p.m., Huronia West OPP say they responded to a call at a residence in which two people were assaulted with a pellet gun, and suffered minor injuries.

Police say two suspects were identified.

A 31-year-old Wasaga Beach man was arrested and charged with the following offences on Monday:

  • Assault with a weapon (2)
  • Careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Disguise with intent
  • Fail to comply with a probation order (3)
  • Firearms - use while committing an offence (2)
  • Mischief under $5000 (2)
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order (2)
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Robbery using a firearm (2)
  • Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm (2)

The accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in Barrie court on Tuesday.

Police are searching for the second suspect, and believe this to be an isolated incident. They say there is no concern for public safety.
