What's Happening In Barrie This Weekend: Feb 8th-Feb 10th

Snowshoeing, Live Music, Winter Carnival & More!

Happy hump day! It's about that time of the week you start making plans for the weekend. If you're still stumped about what to do or looking to try something different, we've got you covered.

Check out this list of what's going on in Barrie and the surrounding area this weekend:

1. Chili Cook-off

What: 4 teams will face-off to be crowned "Chili Cook-off Champions". Guests will have the chance to sample and vote for their favourite. Sweet treats and mock-tails will also be available.

Where: Harley Davidson Barrie, 311 Bryne Dr.

When: Sat Feb 9th, 9 am-5 pm. Sampling & voting starts at 11 am.

Cost: FREE

2. Under the Stars Snowshoe & Yoga

What: A guided and interpretive snowshoe under the stars through the forests of Snow Valley. Warm up around a bonfire before a relaxing 1.25 hours of yoga. Snowshoe equipment and yoga mat provided.

Where: Snow Valley Ski Resort, 2632 Vespra Valley Rd.

When: Sat Feb 9th, 6 pm-9 pm

Cost: $49.99/adult, $29.99/ages 16 & under

3. Lives Music at Homestead

What: Enjoy your weekend coffee with the company of acoustic tunes brought to you by Jakob Pearce Music.

Where: Homestead Artisan Bakery and Cafe, 80 Dunlop St. E

When: Sat Feb 9th, 10 am-1 pm

Cost: FREE (w/ purchase of food or beverage)

4. Women's Body and Soul Wellness Fair

What: An afternoon dedicated to all things health and wellness featuring local holistic health consultants, mental wellness counselors, fitness experts, vendors, door prizes and more. The event will also feature presentations with 8 different speakers on a variety of health and lifestyle related subjects.

Where: Casal Catering & Lion's Gate Banquet Hall, 386 Blake St.

When: Sun Feb 10th, 12 pm-5 pm

Cost: Donation to Seasons Centre For Grieving Children

5. Astilbe Marketplace Winter Market

What: Five Points Theatre will be transforming into an indoor winter wonderland for their upcoming artisan market featuring local artisans, Canadian-inspired vendors, entertainment and a hot cocoa bar!

Where: Five Points Theatre, 1 Dunlop St. W

When: Fri Feb 8th, 4 pm-9 pm & Sat Feb 9th, 10 am-3 pm

Cost: FREE

6. Moonlight Snowshoeing

What: A 2 km guided moonlight snowshoe through the forest followed by a toasty fire with hot chocolate and marshmallow roasting. Dogs are welcome.

7. Ice Rink Grand Opening and Family Skate

What: Family skate day. Test out the new rink, free food, indoor & outdoor activities, and meet local firefighters!

8. Moonlight Snowshoe & Fondue

What: A 5 km moonlight snowshoe followed up with a bonfire, local cider, maple syrup taffy and cheese fondue.

Where: Hardwood Ski and Bike, 402 Old Barrie Rd. W

When: Sat Feb 9th, 6 pm-10:30 pm

Cost: $85/adults, $55/ages 14 & under

9. Shrek The Musical

What: The movie Shrek is brought to life on stage with song and dance for an exciting adaptation of the story you know and love.

10. Tiny’s Winter Carnival D’Hiver

What: Tiny Township's Winter Carnival featuring family skates, snow soccer, skate performances, snowshoeing, fat biking, mini tube slide and more. Snow taffy, hot chocolate, apple cider and butter tarts available.

Where: Perkinsfield Park, 43 County Road 6 South

When: Sat Feb 9, 11 am–2 pm

Cost: FREE
