The sun might be blazing down in your neighbourhood but venturing out for a road trip may not be the smartest move depending on your travel plans.
Wind gusts to 50 km/h continue to cause blowing and drifting snow resulting in whiteout conditions in parts of the region, even in the City of Barrie.
Open areas are particularly bad where snow is blowing off the top of snow banks and across fields.
Barrie police have closed Lockhart Road at the 20th Sideroad due to multi-vehicle collisions, as well as collisions in pockets of Simcoe County.

Springwater Township has declared a significant weather event.
"It is to notify the public that due to the current or forecast conditions, caution is to be observed when travelling on roads maintained by the Township of Springwater as it may take longer than usual to bring the roads back to optimal conditions," the township said in a news release on Friday morning.
Several Flos roads in Springwater are closed.
There is a light at the end of this wintry and windy tunnel.
Clocks spring forward Sunday morning, so there will be an extra hour of daylight, though the start of the day will be a tad darker for a few weeks.
Environment Canada is forecasting several days next week of above-normal temperatures, with a high on Monday flirting close to 10 degrees. The normal high for this time of year is one degree with an overnight low around minus 9.
