Could the reality show "American Idol" have led to the downfall of society?
Whoopi Goldberg thinks so.
During her show "The View," the co-host talked about her dislike for reality shows.
"I think that we, as a society, love to watch stuff to judge folks. I've always thought that the beginning of the downfall of society was with American Idol," she said.
"They invited the public to decide who that person was, and I feel once we did that, it began us in a cycle which we have not gotten out of," she added.
The funny part of the dig is that American Idol airs on ABC, the same network of the view. During the clip you can hear the producer's nervousness.
Her analysis stemmed from a conversation with her other co-hosts about the new Netflix documentary "Anna Nicole Smith: You Don't Know Me," which led to her opinions on reality television.
"You have Basketball Wives, you have the Housewives of whatever, all the Bravo shows, giving you the impression that you're doing something wrong because you're living your life." she said.
