Charges laid after windows smashed at Orillia Recreation Centre

The Orillia Recreation Centre has reopened after closing around late Tuesday afternoon when provincial police responded to the West Street South facility, where an individual was reported to be smashing windows.

The person was located by the police and taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries to his hands.

"The local business was closed for a significant time to allow for clean-up and ensure the safety of all patrons," Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release.

A 38-year-old Oro-Medonte man was charged with mischief over $5,000 and failing to comply with a probation order.

He has a court date in October.
