Concerned citizen broke vehicle window to rescue infant

A woman has been charged after a newborn baby was left alone in a hot car in Innisfil.

South Simcoe Police were called to a plaza parking lot on Innisfil Beach Rd in Alcona just before 1 p.m. Friday by a concerned citizen. A one-month-old boy was crying and appeared to be in distress. The citizen broke a window and opened the car door to get to the child, and was later assisted by County of Simcoe Paramedics in getting the child to hospital as a precaution.

A 40-year-old woman was arrested on scene and charged with Failing to Provide the Necessities of Life. Police are issuing a thank you to the citizen who rescued the child.
