70-year-old woman is dead after swimming at Wasaga Beach

Huronia West OPP say a 70-year-old woman is dead after responding about a person in distress in the water in Wasaga Beach on Tuesday.

OPP say they responded to Beach Area 6 just after 10:30 this morning

Police say lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful and the woman was pronounced at the scene.

An autopsy will be done to determine the cause of death.

OPP say to take all precautions and wear a lifejacket whenever on or near the water.
