Barrie fire crews rescued a woman from a seventh-floor apartment after she became trapped in the unit.
Emergency services responded to the blaze at a building on Duckworth Street near Bell Farm Road around 11 p.m. Sunday.
Deputy Fire Chief Thomas Bezreki tells Barrie 360 that firefighters made contact with the woman from the outside while dispatch was on the phone coaching her through how to secure in a room safely.
"Firefighters went up, made contact from the outside, went in, did a quick attack on the fire, and took the lady out."
The woman was brought down by a ladder and transported to a local hospital.
All other residents were able to return to their units shortly after two Monday morning.
The Ontario Fire Marshal has been notified.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
