"OPP received a traffic complaint ... for a vehicle that was driving in the wrong direction on a one-way road and swerving into oncoming traffic almost hitting other vehicles," police wrote in a release.
"A short time later, the vehicle was located, and the officers began an investigation ... the driver, who had two youths in the vehicle, was arrested and brought to the detachment."
A 34-year-old from Wasaga Beach has been charged with:
- Adult Operation While Impaired - Alcohol and Drugs
- Adult Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)
- Adult Drive Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available
- Adult Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container or Liquor
The accused is scheduled for a court appearance in January 2024.
As well, their licence was suspended and the vehicle was impounded.
"Choosing to drive while impaired by drugs or alcohol puts everyone at risk, including the occupants inside your vehicle," OPP stated.
"Driving conditions can change quickly anytime of year, however the winter weather often poses very dangerous conditions. It is imperative that drivers are alert, focused and are in the position to get themselves and their occupants to their destination safely."
