A wrong-way driver caused chaos on Mapleview Drive West in Barrie.

Police say around 1:20 Thursday afternoon a Jeep Wrangler was travelling eastbound in the westbound lanes when it struck a vehicle turning northbound onto Reid Drive.

The Jeep continued at a high rate of speed on the north side of the road and struck two trees, passed through a parking lot and eventually struck an office building at 204 Mapleview Drive just west of Veterans Drive.

The driver of the Jeep was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The driver and passenger in the car that was hit were not injured.

The collision remains under investigation and police are requesting the assistance of anyone who may have been travelling in the area and may have dash camera video to please contact Constable Langdon of the Barrie Police Traffic Unit at 705-725-7025, extension 2912 or by email at dlangdon@barriepolice.ca.
