York Region cops charge Barrie man with weapons and drug offences

Police allege they found a handgun in the suspect's vehicle

A Barrie man snoozing behind the wheel of his vehicle caught the attention of York Regional Police.

Officers say the vehicle was blocking traffic in the intersection of Keele Street and King Road around 12:30 Monday morning.

Police say the driver was awakened and showed obvious signs of impairment. While speaking with the motorist, they spotted drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

During a search of the vehicle, police allege they found a loaded handgun.

The 33-year-old driver has been charged with impaired, weapons and drug-related offences.
