Young teen struck and killed by a train in Springwater

Police say the boy was walking his dog at the time

A 13-year-old boy walking his dog was struck and killed by a Canadian Pacific freight train in Springwater Township.

Huronia West OPP said they were called to the area of Baldwick Lane near County Road 90 around 9:20 Sunday morning.

Police said the boy was hit by the westbound train and pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation into the incident is being conducted by Huronia West OPP with the assistance of the OPP Forensic Identification Services and CP Rail Police.
