Youth charged after man seriously injured in Midland

OPP

A youth has been charged and a 49-year-old man is in a Toronto-area hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries following an incident at a Midland home.

Around 2:00 a.m. Sunday, OPP attended a residence on Marshall Road and located a male who was suffering from significant wounds.

Police said the man was treated at the scene by County of Simcoe paramedics and Midland firefighters, then transported to a local hospital before being sent for care at a Toronto-area hospital.

Investigators believe his injury was caused by an edged weapon.

A youth was arrested at the residence. He has been charged with aggravated assault and was held for bail hearing.

Police said the youth will not be identified due to provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and they added that there is no danger to public safety.
