A traffic stop by the Ontario Provincial Police for a possible Highway Traffic Act violation turned out to be much more.

Early Sunday, police say they pulled over a vehicle on County Road 93 in Midland. During the investigation, officers seized a number of edged weapons, some of which were classified as prohibited.

A 44-year-old from Penetanguishene was charged with two weapon-related offences as well as driving while under suspension, driving without a licence, failure to produce insurance and obstruction of their vehicle licence plate.

The second occupant of the vehicle, a 38-year-old from Penetanguishene, was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Both of the accused have court dates in June.
