Man charged with uttering threats but no weapon found: Barrie police

Barrie police converged on the downtown area around four Thursday afternoon when they received a report of a man possibly armed with a gun after he allegedly threatened a business owner on Dunlop Street East.

Police were told the man walked away from the store and headed westbound on Dunlop Street East after making a number of threatening gestures.

"A short time later, police located the suspect walking in the area of Maple Avenue and Ross Street, and he was taken into custody without incident. At the time of his arrest, there was no firearm, or any other weapon located on him," police said in a news release on Friday.

A 23-year-old of no fixed address was charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

He has a video link bail hearing scheduled on Friday.
