Barrie police probing vehicle fire, racist message left on garage of home

Barrie police are investigating a vehicle fire at a home in the city's south-end where racist graffiti was sprayed on the garage of the residence.

According to police spokesperson Jennett Mays, officers were called to the house around 2:30 Thursday morning in the area of D'Ambrosio Drive and Patton Road. Mays said there were no injures reported, but police are continuing to investigate.

In black spray paint on the garage was the comment 'GO BACK.'

"The graffiti was noted as part of the investigation, and officers will be looking at whether this could be considered a hate-motivated crime.

Anyone who may have information about this incident is asked to call police at 705-725-7025.
