Battery recycling bags not to be mailed, instead available for pickup: City of Barrie

Battery Collection Week is coming up in Barrie, and recycling bags for the alkaline accumulators can now be picked up at select locations across the city.

Curbside collection for batteries occurs during the first full week of November each year. Citing uncertainty with postal service, the City of Barrie says the bags will not be mailed this year, but eight facilities will have them available for pickup.

The City advises recycling bags should not be placed inside carts. Instead, they must be clearly visible, as they will be removed by the driver and placed in a separate compartment within the truck. They can be placed on top of either cart on their regular curbside collection day.

Residents can also use clear, sealable bags or unused battery recycling bags previously provided by the City.
