40 residents have now tested positive for COVID-19 at Simcoe Manor

The outbreak has killed six residents of the long-term care facility

The County of Simcoe reported Sunday evening that two more residents at Simcoe Manor in Beeton have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the number of those infected to 40. The number of staff members infected with the virus is 28, an increase of two. Six residents of the long-term care home who became infected have died.

The County says it is working with public health to ensure that test results from staff and residents are received as quickly as possible.

Royal Victoria Hospital has been managing the facility since Friday under an order from the province. This is to last for 90 days.

Simcoe Manor has 124 residents.
