South Simcoe Police are reminding drivers that a suspended licence isn't a suggestion.

Just after 11 p.m. on Wednesday, police say officers on patrol spotted a vehicle west on Innisfil Beach Road linked to a suspended driver.

Police pulled the vehicle over and confirmed the driver, a 50-year-old man from Innisfil, was operating a car while their licence was suspended. Authorities also noted the driver has previous Highway Traffic Act charges and convictions.

The man was arrested and charged with three counts of driving while under suspension, one count of operating a motor vehicle with no insurance, and operation while prohibited.

The driver's licence of the accused was suspended, and his vehicle impounded.

He has a court date in May.
