A routine traffic stop in downtown Barrie early this month led to the arrest of two individuals and the discovery of suspected drugs, identity documents, and tools commonly used in break‑ins.
Barrie police say the incident happened on the afternoon of March 3, when an officer conducting traffic enforcement pulled over a vehicle near McDonald and Mulcaster Streets.
According to police, the officer requested identification from the driver and learned he was wanted on an outstanding warrant from another police service. Officers say he was arrested “without incident.”
Both the driver and passenger were also bound by probation orders with strict conditions.
During the investigation, officers found a range of prohibited and suspicious items inside the vehicle.
Seized were:
- Multiple credit and debit payment terminals
- Numerous cards and identification documents not belonging to either occupant

- Several $100 Canadian bills
Police say both occupants — a 43‑year‑old man from Brampton and a 40‑year‑old woman from Scarborough — were arrested and charged with multiple Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act offences.
The charges include:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance (methamphetamine)
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Possession of identity documents
- Possession of break‑in instruments
- Fail to comply with probation and release orders
