The City of Barrie is building a strategy to support accelerating electric vehicle adoption and is looking for input.
As identified in the City’s recent Energy and Greenhouse Gas Reduction community engagement project, electric vehicles can help people save money and contribute to creating a more sustainable environment.
There are two surveys launching today to gain feedback on electric vehicle use and to understand what barriers Barrie residents face when considering how they might use electric and low-carbon ways to move around the city. This initiative also aligns with the City’s direction to implement its climate action plans.
“Electric vehicle adoption in Ontario and beyond is growing, and we want to ensure Barrie residents and businesses have the opportunity and support they need to take part in going electric,” said Adam McMullin, Manager of Energy Management, Corporate Facilities. “Transitioning to electric mobility is one of the top ways we can reduce pollution and improve air quality in Barrie.”
There are two surveys to help inform the next steps. There is a survey for residents who already own and drive an electric vehicle and one for those who do not. The surveys can be accessed at the following links:

The survey deadline is June 5, 2023. If residents complete one of the surveys and provide their contact information, they will have the chance to win a 1-month Barrie Transit pass, or a 1-month Barrie recreation pass, or a smart thermostat.
