
Barrie Police arrested three people in Midland on Tuesday in relation to a shooting that occurred in downtown Barrie on Sunday morning.
The arrests came after the service's Tactical Support Unit attended a residence on Fitton Street in Midland, where the three suspects were arrested without incident. There, a loaded .40 calibre handgun, believed to be connected to the incident, was also seized.
A 20-year-old Barrie man is facing a 10 total charges, many related to firearm offences, including attempted murder and aggravated assault.
Meanwhile, a 32-year-old Midland woman and 23-year-old Barrie woman charged with being an accessory to attempted murder, while the younger was also charged with robbery of a cell phone.
A 30-year-old Barrie man was shot at close range following a group altercation outside a downtown nightclub just before 3 p.m. Sunday morning. The victim was rushed to a local hospital and then transferred to a Toronto-area trauma centre in serious, but stable condition. He is currently recovering in hospital.
Through the investigation, officers recovered a spent shell casing from the scene and projectile that had gone into a glass window of a business across the street from the shooting. There was also assistance from the OPP's Underwater Search and Recovery Unit in searching Kempenfelt Bay and recovering evidence.
Although the investigation led by Barrie Police's Major Crime Unit is ongoing, police say they are not seeking out any other suspects. It's also believed that additional images of the incident exist.
Police continue to appeal to the public for information.
