Less than a week into April, Huronia West OPP had already charged two individuals with impaired operation, both during the Easter weekend.
On Saturday just after 3 p.m., police responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 26 in Clearview, where they investigated for potential impaired driving.
As a result, a 41-year-old from Brampton was arrested and charged with impaired operation, driving with blood alcohol content exceeding the legal limit, and dangerous operation.
They are scheduled to appear before a Collingwood court on May 12.
Then, on Monday, just after 3:30 p.m., officers received reports of a suspected impaired driver leaving a business on 45th Street South in Wasaga Beach.
Police say they found the vehicle shortly thereafter and met with the driver, who was subsequently arrested.
The 34-year-old man from Wasaga Beach was charged with impaired operation and failure to comply with a demand. His court date is set for May 19 in Collingwood.
"Drivers who are impaired by drugs and/or alcohol continue to pose a significant threat on Ontario roads," the detachment wrote in a media release. "Failure or refusal to comply with a demand in an impaired operation investigation is a criminal offence. Furthermore, the consequences an individual will face are the same as being charged with impaired operation.
