One of the world’s largest retailers is officially coming to Wasaga Beach.
Costco Wholesale has received the green light to move forward with construction after the Town issued a building permit for its new location at 345 Lyons Court. The approval clears the way for a $50 million development that is expected to bring significant economic growth and employment opportunities to the community.
The project will create more than 370 jobs and represents one of the most significant private-sector investments in Wasaga Beach’s history.
“This is a big moment for Wasaga Beach and something we know residents have been waiting for,” said Mayor Brian Smith. “This Council has been focused on attracting major investment that creates jobs, strengthens our economy, and builds a more sustainable tax base. Securing a globally recognized retailer like Costco speaks volumes about the confidence investors have in our community and where we are headed."
The Costco development aligns with the Town’s broader economic development strategy, which focuses on attracting major employers, supporting local businesses and reducing reliance on residential property taxes.
Attracting good-paying jobs and investment that strengthens the commercial tax base remains one of Council’s top priorities, helping make life more affordable for residents while supporting long-term community sustainability.
The Wasaga Beach Costco will feature a 162,000-square-foot warehouse, along with a tire centre, gas bar and seasonal garden centre, significantly expanding shopping and service options for both residents and visitors.
Construction is set to begin this spring, with doors expected to open as early as fall 2026.
