A 53-year-old man from Temagami is facing multiple charges after provincial police stopped a vehicle that was reported to be driving erratically on Highway 400 northbound through Barrie.
Police say officers from Aurora and Orillia detachments responded just after midnight on Saturday, where they located the vehicle on Highway 11 northbound in Oro-Medonte Township. Ontario Provincial Police say the driver continued on before a spike belt was deployed, bringing the vehicle to a stop a short distance away.
Charges against the accused include impaired driving, two counts each of flight from a peace officer, dangerous operation and operation while prohibited under the criminal code, three counts of assault a police officer with a weapon, and one count each of failing to comply with an undertaking and failing to comply with a probation order.
The suspect was to appear in court Saturday for a bail hearing.
