Barrie Police charged a 30-year-old man they say was caught travelling nearly three times the posted speed limit in the city's south end early Sunday.

Police say the driver, who is from Barrie, was clocked at 169 km/h on Mapleview Drive East near Huronia Road in a posted 60-zone.

Police also say the driver was charged with unnecessary noise.

As a result, the man is now facing a 30-day licence suspension and a 14-day vehicle impound under Ontario’s stunt driving laws.
