Kim Mitchell will perform a free concert at Meridian Place in downtown Barrie on July 11.
"Residents and visitors are encouraged to make a full day of it downtown, starting with the Downtown Barrie Butter Tart Festival and ending with a free evening concert at Meridian Place," the City of Barrie said in a news release on Monday.
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Mitchell was scheduled to perform outdoors in downtown Barrie on New Year's Eve 2025. The city cancelled the event for public safety after Environment Canada issued an orange weather alert for the risk of snow squalls. Another attempt was made to have the rock artist perform at Winterfest in February, but scheduling conflicts arose.
Mitchell has won three JUNO Awards and achieved gold and multi-platinum status over his career, from his time as lead of Canadian rock band Max Webster in the 1970s to a long and successful solo career. Mitchell was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters' Hall of Fame in 2021.
